About Us

We started our business because we are carvers too and we are always interested in new tools to make specific jobs easier and mundain jobs faster. We are passionate about our products and tools because we use them ourselves. We test and prove every thing ourselves.

Our idea is to offer great, high-quality products at competitive prices. We will source the products, test them, improve them (if need be) and make them available to you.

If you have a specific job, function or a problem then look through our products for a solution or feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help.

It seems that our idea was a success, because other carvers are very interested and are already using some of the tooling we have available.

I am a late-starter in the carving scene, but I have worked with natural products all my working life.  My background is as a Joiner I have been fortunate to work extensively overseas for specialist joinery firms and in New Zealand have worked for a superyacht company as well as a granite company which reignited my interest in stone.

Having worked with machinery and tooling all my adult life, I found it very easy to adapt to stone working machinery. However stone is quite a different medium to what I have been used to and there is still so much more to learn. I'm looking forward to the journey.

As a child, I was absolutely amazed at the variety and exquiste beauty of natural stones. I was always very keen to pick up stones and pebbles on my various journeys. I didn't really know what to do with them, but now I realise that there is such beauty just waiting to come out with a little encouragement from the carver's touch.

| enjoy working with the gemstones, pounamu, carnelian, chryosprase and so many more beautiful stones.

I have been concentrating on glyptic work (gemstone caving) with my mentor Sam Wilkinson we have made several joint pieces for the overseas market.

Like so many artists before me I am inspired by nature, the sophisticated but simple soft curves, bends and folds to the harshness of jaggered edges and the many varied textures that surround us.

All we have to do is stop, look, listen, feel and absorb. We are so very lucky to have such spectacular native bush, rivers, oceans, mountains and wild life at our door.

Sam Wilkinson

Sam is a  contemporary jade and gemstone artist with a diploma in visual art and design.  He has been a practising artist in a number of media for over 25 years, working solely in Nephrite Jade (Greenstone) and gemstones since 1992.  Sam undertakes commissions and creates one-off works of jewellery and sculpture, and teaches in his spare time.

Sam has exhibited nationally and internationally in USA, Great Britain and Australia.  His works can be found in public and private collections around the world.

"I spend a lot of time looking for the right stone or wood for a particular work, and will look for years for the right material for a special piece.  This is an expensive passion, but I feel it is essential for the development and integrity of my art.

Tooling is an essential part of the success of a piece of art and being able to have access to high quality, reliable tools is crucial.  If there are tools that make tasks easier whilst not compromising on my quality for the end product, I'm hooked."
